Avoiding Princesses with Toughees
When it comes to kids clothes there’s something that makes me wince. Cartoon characters, I am not a fan. Don’t get me wrong I love cartoons, I grew up loving them like every other kid but I just don’t like them covering everything that can possibly be branded. Duvet covers, lunch bags, T-shirts and shoes all covered with Peppa Pig, Skylanders or my worst nightmare…..Disney Princesess!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do have a 2 year old girl and at some point she will no doubt be desperate for Cinderella or Belle to adorn her school bag, but until she can actually ask for it I shall stand my ground. The problem is finding things that aren’t covered with such characters. I have found this particularly with wellies. My toddler is obsessed with wellies for some reason and she will yell ‘BOOOOOOOOTTTSS’ at me whenever I try to put her regular shoes on. So where do you find welly boots without gender stereotyping pictures of diggers for boys and pink hearts for girls on them, or as I said before money generating cartoon characters.
So I was very glad to come across Toughees wellies. A range of top quality brightly coloured boots which are lightweight, flexible sturdy and strong for all those wet weather walks and adventures particularly jumping in puddles! Below are the two colours that will be available for this winter, navy and pink. (Nice to see a raspebrry pink rather than bubblegum!) They even come with removable washable socks for extra coziness and retail at £19.99 with the socks, or £14.99 without, and go up to a UK size 2. The reflective strip around the top of the boot helps you spot them a little easier on darker evenings! (Other colours are still available on their site, I love the red with yellow soles and the green with orange)
I think we will all agree that the summer is in its last death throes and it will be puddle jumping season before we know it, so I for one am going to make sure I’m ready with a pair of these for my daughter.

I do so agree with clothes, items or whatever, covered in logos etc – trashy. and as for T shirts with ‘stuff’ all over the chest area, well – enough said !!!!
